Welcome to FeelGoodEats Nutrition!

Updated: Sep 5, 2021

Hello there!

I LOVE writing and talking about nutrition. My motivation behind sharing my tips, tricks and recipes is to help you achieve better health through nutrition.

It took me some time to recognize the value in good nutrition and a balanced diet. I was forced to make changes myself in my early 20's. I thought I was healthy enough. I had late nights with the drive-thru pretty often, it’s convenient and budget friendly. It was after some routine lab work that showed significantly high cholesterol levels, that my doctor seriously urged me to change my eating habits or prescription meds would be necessary. It dawned on me that my lifestyle habits had a direct result on my health! I always thought this was something you dealt with when you were older. I did not realize the negative impact my actions and habits were having on my health at the moment. So, I made a change.

I focused on learning about different diets and what constitutes a balanced diet. I set a meal schedule for myself and worked on including better food choices. I also incorporated more structured exercise, which improved my energy levels, body composition and sleep at night.

With this new knowledge and first hand experience, I became excited to share with others who struggle like I did. I enjoy having conversations about food and health.I then realized Nutrition Counseling is what I’m meant to do! The first step was earning my Master’s of Science in Nutrition Education, then obtaining my CNS (Certified Nutrition Specialist). Now, loaded with all of this invaluable information it was time to create a platform to share with others.

It's long and it's a mouthful to say but FeelGoodEats Nutrition conveys exactly what my mission is really about. The realm of nutrition is vast, enough to make your head spin. So many fad diets like; keto, low carb, high protein, 5/2, paleo, zone diet, Mediterranean diet, Swedish diet, counting points and so on. It is so easy to feel overwhelmed with the resources and give up. Taking ownership of your health requires you to understand what you are putting into your body. What you are putting into your body directly affects you and your overall health and well being. In short, yes, your nutrition matters.

I want you to think of nutrition as 'FeelGoodEats' because you should eat foods that make your body feel good that you enjoy and feel good to your soul. No one lives off carrot sticks and salad - unless you're a rabbit, then you'd be ecstatic! So, the trick is to find a balance between what is good for your body, supports long term health and is enjoyable.

Finding that balance in eating well and feeling good can take some time and can involve a bit of experimentation. Be patient with yourself, making any change is hard. You will not be perfect, none of us are. What matters is making a conscious effort to learn and understand what works for you and your body. We all need support here and there, part of being human. FeelGoodEats Nutrition is here, ready to lend a hand when you are ready to take that leap!
